Prescriptions
Where do I take my prescription?
There is a dispensary in the surgery but government rules mean that you cannot use the surgery dispensary if you live within one mile of any chemist.
Dispensary opening times: 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 6:30pm from Monday to Friday
Repeat Prescriptions
Patients on regular treatment may have repeat prescriptions dispensed at the Doctor's discretion. If your regular medicines are not on the repeat system you will need to see or contact the doctor to arrange this.
Please order all your repeat prescriptions together once a month. The Dispenser will help you to organise this. Please also ensure that you order in sufficient time so that you do not run out (at least one week before you finish your tablets). Be prepared to give at least 48 hours notice.
We dispense drugs to all our patients who live more than one mile from any chemist.
Repeat prescriptions can be collected in person, sent through the post on receipt of an SAE, or sent directly to P. Williams Chemist, The Cross, Malpas (on request).
ORDERING REPEATS ON-LINE
If you have medicines on the repeat prescription system you can reorder them on a secure internet system called emisaccess.
You must register to use this system.
You may only order items that are displayed.
For details of registering and advice on how to use go to the help pages
Ordering repeat prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered on-line (see above) or by:
Letter (post boxes are at the front door and dispensary counter)
Fax: 01948 860142
If none of these methods is possible, repeat prescriptions can be ordered by telephone on 01948 860506, between 8am and 9am, Monday to Friday.
Free Home Delivery Service for Repeat Prescriptions
We will deliver to one area of the practice each week during the month so patients will get a delivery every 4 weeks. All prescription deliveries must be signed for and tablets will not be left without a signature or with anyone under 18 years. If you cannot be at home to receive your order, you MUST make arrangements with us to leave it with a responsible adult. Remember to give your next month's repeat prescription order to the Driver. We will send you spare order forms when we confirm your first delivery date. The back of the prescription must be signed and the NHS Prescription Fee paid (by cheque if possible) or your Exemption Certificate shown if you have one. If the Driver cannot deliver the medication, it will be returned to the practice. The prescription will have to be collected from the surgery.
Delivery of repeat medication items is free to all our dispensing patients (that is, if you live over 1 mile from any chemist).
To register for this service, complete an application form and return it to the practice. Be sure to complete the contact details so that we can reach you to confirm the first delivery date. One form is required for each patient requesting delivery.
Check that your repeats are all ordered at the same time. If you do not already do this, please contact the Dispensers who will arrange for all your repeats to be issued on the same date. If your repeat prescription alters during the month, please notify the Dispensary, giving at least 2 working days notice, so that the Driver knows about the change.
Repeat Prescription Review
A regular review of patients receiving repeat prescriptions will be made.
Medicines Managers
These managers, in addition to their dispensing role, are the recognised contact for medication queries from patients, nursing homes and pharmacies. With their work, we aim to improve efficiency of medicine management, increase patient safety and reduce waste. Please contact them at the surgery.
For more details go to managers and dispensing team
Dispensing
A prescription charge will be taken by the Dispensers unless you have an exemption. If you are on more than one medication a month, it would be worthwhile buying a prepayment certificate. Please ask for an application form.
