Chiropody / Podiatry
Elizabeth Murphy is the podiatrist who currently has a clinic at Malpas surgery.
NHS Chiropody (or Podiatry) only has limited availability on the NHS.
If you live in England you need to have one of the following conditions to be eligible for routine foot or nail care.
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Raynauds disease
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Peripheral vascular disease (Poor circulation)
- Immunosuppression (On cancer treatments or conditions like AIDS)
- Peripheral neuropathy ( no feeling in hands or feet)
- Foot ulceration
- On anticoagulant therapy
- On oral steroid treatment long term
- Terminal illness
If you have one of these conditions you can self refer or a carer can apply using a form available from the surgery reception. You do not need to see the doctor.
If you do not have one of these conditions but have septic in growing toenails or biomechanical problems with the foot then your doctor may still be able to refer you – please make an appointment.
